In the plastic processing industry polymers with a low MFI are generally used to obtain the required melt strength. However as a consequence melt fracture is formed, extrusion pressure is high, amperage and torque are high and build up of material is formed on the die. To eliminate these problems, INTAPOL PPA is used.
INTAPOL PPA is a fluoropolymer-based processing aid masterbatch that provides excellent performance through the full range of polyolefin processing conditions to eliminate the above mention problems. It deposits at the interface between the extruder and the polymer melt, which creates a microscopic "slippery" layer that reduces friction and provides better flow through the extruder. This article shows how much Intapol helps not only to smoothen the flow, but also reduced amperage during the production process of high-filled and non-filled masterbatches.
Non-filled masterbatch
Carrier resin : Polyethylene 85 - 95 %
Additives : Organic Material 5 - 15 %
Intapol PPA 320 : 1 phr
INTAPOL PPA provides outstanding performance when incorporated to non-filled masterbatch production. It not only reduces production duration, but also increases average throughput which means smoother flow is achieved. Moreover lowered motor energy consumption represents how well INTAPOL PPA affects in reducing torque by creating a slippery layer to reduce friction. As shown in the above table, INTAPOL PPA can reduce the energy consumption by >25%.
High-filled masterbatch
Carier Resin : Polyethylene 10-15 %
Filler : Calcium Carbonate 85 - 90 %
Intapol PPA 320 : 1 phr
Intapol also performs very well in high-filled masterbatch production. From the above findings the use of INTAPOL PPA can increase production efficiency and reduce energy consumption.
